Sunset Stairway to Heaven

Day 80 / 2022 Photo Project365

It’s all about perspective, isn’t it? The angle of the dangle, your point-of-view also known as your “POV”… It’s about visual context, juxtaposition, selective editing, and cropping. What you include or don’t; what’s inside the frame vs. what’s left outside of it. What you see is what you get and what you get is what it is. If you see it, it must be so. Videndo derum (in seeing, truth). And accordingly, correspondingly, what you don’t see must be false; it doesn’t exist. Right?

So, from the POV in this photograph — a low-squatting angle — I see a stairway to heaven in a sky full of clouds and colors at sunset. With a tree included off to one side for scale and Led Zeppelin playing in my mind. What do you see?

In reality, it’s a set of humble, crumbling, concrete steps, carved, constructed, and poured right through the middle of a broken boulder, so that visitors could climb easily (with minimal exertion) from one sitting area to another at the park…
